Introduction to ESS
Ernestown Secondary school provides a tremendous learning environment for its students. It is a truly comprehensive high school in that it provides its students with an excellent bridge between high school and university, college and the workplace.
The school offers many unique programs to its students. These programs include Extended French, Focus programs and a School-to-Community program. As well as the academic opportunities offered to students, the school has excellent sports and music programs as well as many special interest clubs.
Approximately 600 students attend ESS coming from five elementary schools in the region. Roughly two-thirds of the student population come from rural areas. The remaining students come from built-up areas surrounding the communities of Amherstview, Yarker, Bath, Millhaven and Morven that are part of Loyalist and Stone Mills Townships in the County of Lennox and Addington.
Ernestown Secondary School was opened in 1960 primarily as a result of the efforts of Reeve Erwell Huff. Ernestown's Resource Centre is named in his honour.
We are proud of our strong tradition of academics, music and athletics.
