Shoutout to Ernestown Secondary School’s Travelling Band!
A huge congratulations to the talented students from Ernestown Secondary School who just wrapped up an incredible series of concerts at Amherstview Public School, Fairfield Public School, Bath Public School, and Odessa Public School.
The band brought energy and excitement with a variety of uptempo songs that had audiences tapping their feet and smiling all around Loyalist Township. Adding to the fun, Ernestown’s Senior Leadership students—known as the Impact class—joined in by leading engaging games with students at each stop.
Thank you to everyone who made these events such a success! Your hard work and enthusiasm truly showcase the spirit of our school community. 🎶👏
Celebrating Student Success!
Congratulations to Phoenix Burley from the Building Construction Internship Program (BCIP) for signing on as an apprentice with Jacob Birchall Plumbing! Phoenix joins BCIP graduate Kaleb Baldwin on Jacob’s plumbing team. Kaleb has more great news—through the Accelerated OYAP initiative, Kaleb successfully completed Plumbing Level 1 at St. Lawrence College this week. Way to go, Phoenix and Kaleb!
Reminder: Dressing for Winter Recess
As the colder weather sets in, please ensure students come prepared for outdoor recess with hats, boots, gloves, and coats. We want all students to stay warm and safe during these chilly days. If your family needs support with winter wear, we have resources available. Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Hamilton directly for assistance. We appreciate your help in making sure students are dressed appropriately—recess can be very cold, and a sweater alone isn’t enough. As well, a continued reminder that the creek behind the field is off limits for students as it poses a safety risk. Thank you for your continued support!
Looking Ahead–Exam Period is January 22nd to 28th
Please find below our secondary exam schedule. If buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, exams scheduled on that day will be rescheduled to the next exam day. Subsequent exams in the exam schedule will also be rescheduled to the next exam day.
Ernestown administration will communicate with families directly through email if the exam schedule is adjusted due to inclement weather and bus cancellations. Information about researched exams will also be posted on school websites. It will be important for families to watch for communication in the event of inclement weather. Students are expected to be present and available to write exams during the entire exam period, from January 22 to January 28, 2026.
We understand that changes like these can cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and co-operation as we navigate any potential inclement weather and its impact on Semester 1 exams. Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our entire school community.
Parents of Grade 10 Students - OSSLT Results
Results for writers of the Fall 2025 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test should be sent to the school next week. The Student Success team will meet with students individually to discuss results and an email will go home to parents/guardians letting them know their child's results and any next steps. A paper copy of the results will also be sent home for your records.
March Break Opportunity for Students–Queen’s STEM
We are excited to announce the Research Exploration Opportunity (REO) Program held by Queen’s University STEM Fellowship.
The REO program allows high school students (grades 9-12) to spend March Break in a Queen’s lab, learning from professors and research students about the intricate processes involved in various areas of STEM research. The program aims to help students from underrepresented backgrounds learn about the field of STEM, helping spark their interest and understanding of research. As part of the REO program, you will be able to shadow professors, graduate and post-graduate students, and learn about the exciting research taking place at Queen’s University. This year, we have labs participating from a variety of disciplines, such as nanophotonics and computing, genomics, astroparticle physics, cancer, biodegradable and biocompatible polymers, among others. Applications are due on January 16 at 11:59 PM. Please use the following link to apply.
