Update: School Access for Odessa Public School and Ernestown Intermediate and Secondary School

Dear Families of Odessa Public School and Ernestown Intermediate and Secondary School,
As a follow-up to yesterday's communication, we would like to share the following updates:
- Parking is permitted on the north side of North Street only. Parking is not permitted on the south side of North Street.
- Barrels and “No Parking” signage have been placed along the south side of North Street and the east side of Old Wilton Road.
- Parking is not permitted in the Odessa Public School parking lot.
- Two security guards will be on site this week to help safely direct traffic and pedestrians.

School Access Details for Odessa Public School and Ernestown Intermediate and Secondary School

Dear Families of Odessa Public School and Ernestown Intermediate and Secondary School,
As construction on Main Street and Durham Street continues into the start of the school year, families should allow extra travel time when travelling to and from schools.
Main Street between West Street and Mill Street remains closed, and Durham Street remains closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Construction is ongoing in the area. To help ensure a safe and smooth trip to and from school, please review the information below:
- Families travelling from the east who are accessing Odessa PS can use Scotland Road and Old Wilton Road to reach the school area from the north. Families travelling from the east who are accessing Ernestown ISS are encouraged to follow the detour routes via County Road 4.
- Families travelling from the west who are accessing Odessa PS are encouraged to use one of the suggested park-and-walk locations or follow the detour around the construction zone to Old Wilton Road. Families travelling from the west who are accessing Ernestown ISS can access the front of the school directly via Highway 2.
- Parking at the Fire Hall or local businesses is not permitted and subject to enforcement.
- Families are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternatives to driving directly to the school wherever possible.
- The road adjacent to Dopking Park is available as a parking option for families and members of the public. Where practical, using this option will help reduce traffic congestion around the school.
- The parking lot at Centennial Park is available as a parking option for families and members of the public approaching from the north on Old Wilton Road. Where practical, using this option will help reduce traffic congestion around the school.
- Pedestrian access across the bridge on Main Street will be maintained and accessible at all times.
- Limited student drop-off spaces are available in front of Odessa PS. These spaces are intended for active student drop-off only and are not available for parking or leaving vehicles unattended.
- Parking is permitted on only one side of both North Street and Old Wilton Road. Vehicles must not be parked on both sides of either road. Parking on both sides creates a significant safety risk by reducing North Street to a single lane, which could prevent emergency vehicles from accessing the area.
